Now it works: I have to set
Advanced -> General -> Server Type LINUX L8
The SSH/SFTP-server is an open source port (taken from codeplex). This may explain why server type is LINUX despite the system is WinCE.

I am using coreftp lite 2.1 build 1596. The ftp server is running on a Windows CE system (UNICODE !). There are directory names like \Storage Card or \Application Date on this system.
