Can't connect to Standard FTP on 21, 990 TLS works fine.

Post by Cpt.America »

Just like the title says, I cannot get my core FTP client to connect to the most basic of setup port 21 FTP. I have 5 or 6 different users connecting to 990 using TLS with a self signed cert, and it works flawlessly. I have added a second domain to my FTP server, and set up a guest account to connect to normal ol port 21, but my core ftp client just errors out with

Connect socket #1664 to 10.51.1.55, port 21...
Can't establish connection --> 10.51.1.55:21 @ Thu Dec 12 11:34:24

I have a half dozen accounts setup on my FTP server for users to connect to 990 using AUTH TLS, and all those work just fine. I have all my 990 accounts and this single public port 21 account setup on two different "domains" on the FTP server

Let me know if you need to see any screen shots, it seems VERY basic, and doesn't work.

If you stop the server, then hit "start" in the GUI, do you see both domains listed? Are there any binding errors?

I can stop the service, and restart.. no changes. Both domains are listed there just fine. I don't see any errors, unless there is some place specific you are referring to that I don't know.

Also, If I try to ftp to 21 through a normal ol command window, it never prompts for creds.

It sounds like the 2nd domain isn't starting.

If the domain running on port 21 is the 2nd domain, try disabling the domain running on 990 in the domain setup, then start. This should tell whether or not the reason the domain isn't running is due to a 1 domain limit.
