Home dir set when user is SFTP, but not when FTP

Post by lairdb »

Server 1.2 build 519: when a user logs in using SFTP, they are placed in their home directory. This is my expected behaviour.

Recently, I enabled plain FTP, and if I log in as the same user (or any user, for that matter) I am placed in the root directory. This is undesirable.

One server, two test users (built-in users, not AD).

"Use base directory + username" is checked, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. In short, I can't find any options that should govern differently between SFTP and FTP.

Thanks in advance.

Send in your CoreFTPServer\config.dat file to feedback at coreftp.com, so it can be tested here.

You only want the ""Use base directory + username" for certain AD or WinNT user setups. I had assumed you had tried it without this option also.

Do you still have the same behavior without the option unchecked? The reason it happens is because the directory+username doesn't exist.

That (eventually) worked. I had to clear the checkbox and stop&restart the service.

Thanks!
