Changing directories

Post by ccs »

Sorry if this has been mentioned before....

I really like CoreFTP. The only quirk I've found so far is when changing directories.

I often need to work from multiple directories, so whenever I change one (either the local or remote side) I have to press the 'Enter' key in order for the change to actually happen. The "normal" behavior of a drop-down combo-box is to automatically act on the selected/changed value.

I would really really really appreciate it if the action on the directory combo-box could be changed!

Thanks!

More directory woes :(

Post by ccs »

This may also be a known bug, but I just found it, and it may require me to abandon CoreFTP until a fix is made.

When switching sites (something I do often as I work on a development site and a production site), the directories are not updated so its impossible to upload files without exiting the program and restarting it.

For example, if I'm working on Site1 then connect to site2, the directory for site1 is still displayed in the right-hand window. Even doing a 'refresh' to the directory does not connect it to the correct site.

I have also found that the source directory (left side) does not always get reconnected at various times (especially if the program has sat idle for quite awhile). This is less easy to reproduce but again, these types of issues are a show stopper for me.

I have to be able to rely on the program at least connecting to the proper sites and directories without having to restart the application each time. IMO, this is a serious flaw.

There were some FXP bugs fixed in build 1451 (dev build in download area). It's in beta but it may take care of the issues you're experiencing.

Which build are you seeing the problems in?

Thanks, but I don't have time nor patience for beta's.

I've purchased a copy of WS_FTP instead. (or shall I say inspite of having already bought a pro copy of CoreFTP).

:(

FYI I purchased v1.3c build 1447

We're really sorry to hear Core FTP didn't work out for you. Hold onto the license though, it's good for lifetime updates/versions. You may come across options that only Core FTP offers at some point.

As an aside:
I personally find the beta builds to usually be quite stable, fixing quite a few of the problems that were in previous builds. "Release early, release often." The developers here tend to abide by that rule. The term "beta" is almost innapropriate for the most up-to-date versions. Developer Build is more appropriate (which I think is what it's called in the download area, actually).
