Using Notepad++ with Core FTP

Hello
I am trying to use notepad++ but when I try to edit a file it alway opens with notepad, this has no line numbers for reference.

I changed file associations
.htaccess and .htpasswd to Notepad++.exe and restarted Core ftp but on Edit only notepad is opened.

Can anyone see what I may be doing wrong please?

Settings might not be sticking, try "run as admin" from the Core FTP icon.

I did run as administrator but regretfully it makes no difference.
