Hello
We are running CoreFTP Server v1.2 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box.
The issue we are experiencing is at times user accounts will go missing for no reason that I can find. When we build a user account for SFTP we input the following info:
User Name
Password
Home Directory (lock user in home directory checked)
Permissions: Set permissions as RWALC to their specific folder
Security: User does not require key auth
Once the account is created we restart the CoreFTP service then test the account.
After days or months we get a report from the user that they cannot log in - account not found. After investigation we find that the account is no longer listed in the User list. What I believe is happening is when technician A creates an account - restarts the service - verifies account is working - they are not closing the app and logging off the server. When technician B comes in to create an account and notices that technician A still has a disconnected session in the Remote Desktop Services Manager, we disconnect that session then the account that tech A created simply disappears. This is the only thing I can think that could be causing this issue.
I checked the coresvr log file but it only logs connections, transfers, disconnects, and invalid connections. No mention of account removals. I also tried searching through the Event Viewer but was not able to find any relevant information.
Any ideas?

Re: User Accounts Missing
if you don't exit the GUI you leave the possibility of another Windows user logging in and editing the config (possibly overwriting changes). Once the server is setup, run as a service and exit the GUI when you have completed your changes.
If something else is going on, try setting up a scheduled task to backup your CoreFTPServer\config.dat file each night, so at least you will have a backup.

Re: User Accounts Missing
Build 649 and greater should resolve the issue with missing accounts...
Accounts that may have been lost may have had the following terms in them:
Global
Access
