Core FTP stopped working after Win 7 update

Good morning,

Core FTP wouldn't connect to the server after the Windows 7 update around the end of August. I rolled back the update, and it started working again. I took a screenshot of the updates -- if it helps, I'll list them in my next message (I guess it's not possible to attach a screenshot here, right?)

The updates were:

could you be more specific about what isn't working - does the program not start or is it a connection issue, etc?

Doesn't connect. I rolled back the Win 7 updates and it started working again, so I don't have the error message handy anymore, but I think it said something about not finding a port at a certain location?

Tried reproducing this without any luck. Are you using any firewall/security software, and if so which one(s)?

Malwarebites, Norton Security.

I just noticed that in the Windows firewall page it says that Norton is controlling the settings for the firewall. Don't know if that matters.

I'm getting the same error message as lroseriver (see next thread).

This was the error message:

Can't establish connection -- > 162.241.224.188:21 @TueOct 02 13:47:40 2018 (10038-2)
An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.

most likely Norton is closing the connection. You may need to add coreftp.exe (and/or corecmd.exe) as a firewall exception.

Norton already has it as an exception.

What should I try next?

I installed the malicious software removal tool. FTP works -- so at least we know that's not the problem.

There's also a message in Windows Firewall that says that the firewall is being managed by Norton, if that matters.

I updated Microsoft Office -- ftp still works. So the problem must be with either

Just added Core FTP to Norton's exceptions, and installed the last two Windows updates. Core FTP works!
