Notepad++ not saving without closing

When I edit files with other editors, when I save the file in the editor, it triggers an upload via CoreFTP, but Notepad++ is only doing that when I close the file in the editor. That's annoying when trying to make a series of edits and test them with an upload as one goes along.

There is a global option (view - options - view/edit), "Update edited files on save".

If checked (may require restart), does it change the behavior?
