Sudden problem when downloading files

Post by minuteman1970 »

I have been using CoreFTP (free version) for several months, without a problem. I've utilized it to download backup .gz files for my website, which are about 200 megs in size. It has worked fine up until recently; whenever I try to download the file from my desktop (winXPpro sp1), the speed starts off quite fast (300kb/s), but quickly slows down to a crawl. After a few minutes, it fails altogether. I am able to upload files at a fast speed, but can no longer download. I even tried another hard drive running XPpro sp1 with a fresh install of CoreFTP, but get the exact same results. I also tried to install the ANSI version, but no change.

Something I should also mention is that I also have a win2000 laptop connected to my cable router, and so far don't have this problem there. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
thanks.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Update: I have tried changing those settings, but my attempts did not help. I have since been issued a new laptop (win 2000), and that one cannot download large files via FTP either.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?
thanks.
