I have upgraded to Vista ultimate...
When clicking on any file in either the client or server window, I hear "ding". I can't turn it off, and it is annoying.
I have turned off all sounds in the Vista Control Panel, yet the "ding" continues in CoreFTP. Suggestions?
Vista - Can't turn off sounds
I tried this first. No luck.CP wrote:You could try disabling Core FTP's sounds from view -> options -> sounds -> uncheck "sounds on".
It is happening at home (Vista Ultimate) and at work (Vista Business).CP wrote: Core FTP doesn't have any built in sounds for just clicking on a file. That's very surprising! It may indicate some sort of other GUI issue that isn't obvious at this point. I couldn't reproduce the issue but I'll keep it in mind when testing.
Possibily I am the first to try Vista and report bugs. Am I the only one who has switched to Vista?
I have found a solution to this... kinda.
Go into your Control Panel (on Vista, not CoreFTP) and go to Sound. Then go to the Sounds tab and find Default Beep.
This is the culprit. Unfortunately the only way to stop it playing in CoreFTP is to stop it playing everywhere.
But it's not as easy as that - if you set the Default Beep to [None] then it uses your computer's default beep - which is even more annoying.
So, you need to find a sound file that is basically empty and hence it won't play any sound. On my copy of Vista (Home Premium) the file in the drop-down list called ac3.wav doesn't seem to play anything - so I selected that and CoreFTP is now sound-free.
I'm not sure when the Default Beep is used outside CoreFTP, so be careful if you think you might need it elsewhere - but it looks like this is the only way to go...
