AS/400 iSeries FTP
AS/400 iSeries FTP
when i ftp to the iSeries with Core the data always gets into binary or ascii mode. the iseries is an EBCDIC machine. normal FTP via DOS, etc. automatically converts from ascii to ebcdic. I tried using the post login script/cmds to set the session to ebcdic but no luck. is there a way around this? We're on V5R3 of the iSeries OS and running Win XP Pro on the PC. maybe an ebcdic mode transfer should be added??
File transferred fine for me
I just upload a file from v5r3 in the default Binary mode and sure enough it landed in EBCDIIC on my PC. Changed transfer mode to ASCII and it uploaded fine. See snippets below. BTW, you probably know that native packed and binary data type will not translate using ftp.

still haven't resolved this...but i haven't had time to look at it. i have been able (at another client site) to transfer files successfully. it could be some little setting somewhere i don't have set correctly. i'll keep playing with it as time permits & will post my findings after i get this going...
