Server fails for high volume of files

It appears that:
When the client logs in using WSFTP client and runs a script to synchronize a directory with 3,000 to 4,000 files the server locks up.
They then close and start a new session and get:
If I stop the service and restart it, the problem is solved until it happens again.
Anybody have any help?

SSH Transport closed.
If I stop the service and restart it, the problem is solved until it happens again.
Anybody have any help?
