v1.x and v2.0 crash on drag-n-drop copy of many files

Post by HarryD »

My site had more than 100 logfiles I wanted to download. Here's what happened:
1. Opened CoreFTP v2.0
2. Connected to the site. Right panel now shows all the files I want.
3. In Windows: open the dir where I want them to go.
4. Select all source fils in CoreFTP.
5. Drag them to the destination Window.
6. CoreFTP crashes and disappears without a message.

- same happened to older version
- it works ok for a few files, but for many (not sure about the number, but it was >100) files it does this.
- copying while the left pane shows the destination (eg copying within CoreFTP) works ok.

Hello- I have the same problem as HarryD.

I tried installing the ANSI version as you suggested but the problem remains; this is now with Core FTP LE 2.1 build 1576 on Windows XP SP2. (BTW how can I tell if I have the ANSI version installed? it doesn't show in the About box).

More details :
- the problem happens when you drag from CoreFTP to a Windows Explorer window, but not when you drag from the right (remote) pane to the left (local) pane.
- seems to be indeed related to the number of files being dragged. 3 or 4 files always works, more files sometimes works but most of the time doesn't.

I will be happy to provide more details as this is the only issue I have with an otherwise great product!

Thanks

Same for me

Experiencing the same problem, showed up for me somewhere around build 1547 and whatever I had before that. Currently upgraded to latest and still experiencing the same issue, dragging out to an explorer window closes the program. Used to work fine.

Thanks.

Just to amend my post from Oct.15 (2008, that is)

Contrary to what I said, I noticed that CoreFTP does crash when you drag many files from right (remote) pane to left (local), where many is several hundreds of files.

Hoping this will help the developers fix the problem ....

Here's my experience related to this (CoreFTP LE 2.1.1607):

I've never tried dragging between both panes (I use either the arrow buttons or double-click), but I often drag between Windows file explorer and the remote pane (that is, upload), no problem.
Today I tried dragging from the rermote pane to Windows file explorer (i.e. download), the program crashed the 2 or 3 times I tried. Not sure how many files were involved, but no more than 15.

Thanks for this excellent program! It solves my life.
