Can't Change File Permissions

Post by philcollins »

I am trying to change the file permissions on files that I have transferred. When I right click the file and click properties, set the permissions where I need them, i get an error message " 500 'SITE CHMOD 777 phpBB3': command not understood ".

Anyone have any suggestions? This happened with LE and Pro after I upgraded.

What would be another way to change the file permissions so that I can start a forum ?

chmod - can't change anything!

Post by LissaMitchell »

I'm running windows, not linux. I use Core FTP LE. I'm trying to use zencart for my website. Zencart set-up is saying I need to change chmod of two particular files to 777. I right click on the remote side (I've also tried the local side AND the main file on my computer) and it allows me to put in the numbers but when I go back to it, it's back to zero.

How can I change the numbers to 777, 755, 644, or ANYTHING. I can't change anything at all.

Unix permissions might not be applicable on Windows NT servers.
