URL displays Index Page

Post by viejolex »

Help! Aging newbie, aging machine, win98se, AMD Athlon, Firefox, after much effort managed to pass the dreaded validation test, liked CORE, still like CORE, thought I had stuck the index.html fine in the www folder, uploaded it, you can see it at http:boboland-chronicles.us, but it is the index page that displays, no images, no nothing except the validated stuff - where did I sin, and how can I fix it? Thanks - kids and grandkids wait with bated breath!

You can try to validate your web page here: http://validator.w3.org/

If that doesn't help, I'd check with your hosting company to see if there is something wrong with the server.
Your index is named index.htm and the server could want index.html...

Validation

Post by viejolex »

Sorry I wasn't clear, but I passed the validation after many tries, even got a "congratulations" from the validator. that's when I uploaded. I changed my index page to "index.htm" because the server told me that they already had an "index.html" on their "www" directory, and suggested that in these circumstances I should rename mine to index.htm, which you correctly state is the case. But you're right, it may be a server thing, and I will contact them.
