Post by Glenn »

Version 1.3 (Build 1417.02)

While transfering some data, I noticed this strange entry fly past in the session window. Upon checking the coreftp.log, I located what I had seen.
Can someone tell me if this normal?? The computer is your friend?!!! What on earth is that?

Connect socket #88 to 209.59.128.202, port 43688...150-Accepted data connection

150-The computer is your friend. Trust the computer

150 167.3 kbytes to download

226-File successfully transferred

226 0.332 seconds (measured here), 504.09 Kbytes per second

That's the welcome message setup by your host computer's FTP daemon. It's basically a message to identify a handshake, like you might normally see "Welcome to ProFTPD. You are now connected."

This is editable by an administrator, or a default depending on the FTP server application/daemon.

Thanks. It's not exactly a message I would expect. Something more administrative would have made more sense. The current message makes one wonder if there are other forces at work.
