Problems under Windows Server 2008

Post by mcollins »

I am having a problem running CoreFTP Server under Windows Server 2008. It runs OK when you connect using a client (WinSCP), but you cannot connect using an FTP URL in a browser. i.e. ftp://1.2.3.4/folder/filename.ext. The browser asks for your credentials, and then times out. I have tried different browsers on different computers, none work. No firewall or other FTP software (IIS) running on server. Server is on the LAN (no firewall in between). Domain set up as a normal FTP site (port 21). Works fine with CoreFTP Server installed on a 2003 server on the same network though.

I'm guessing some security "feature" of 2008 is getting in the way. Any ideas? Anyone?

I would like to be able to email ftp links to my clients without them needing to load FTP software. (some are barely savvy enough to surf the web)

Any help appreciated..
