Active/Passive Mode

How do I set a connection to be in Active mode as default rather than waiting the 30 second timeout period?

uncheck the PASV option in your site profile.

If you want active mode for ALL connections, goto view -> options -> connections -> uncheck 'PASV connections for all transfers'.
